Our Coating Process
From mill finish aluminium to finished, quality-tested product. A 9-step process carried out in our fully conveyorised Behror facility, with PLC-controlled ovens and in-house QC at every stage.
Mill Finish Aluminium
Mill finished aluminium sections received from the customer are unpacked for processing.
We have huge storage space for metal profiles and sections of over 100 MT.
The ultimate surface texture required will determine the type of pre-treatment necessary.
The received sections are unpacked from their protective packing and prepared for pre-treatment process.
Buffing
Buffing processes for smoothing the workpiece surface wherever required.
Buffing operations are carried out using either flat-bed machines or hand spindles.
It should be remembered that polishing is unlikely to remove heavy die lines or scratches.
The metal is submitted to a series of operations in contact with abrasive belts varying in grit sizes.
Pre-treatment
The final appearance of anodised material depends on the anodising process itself, on the type of pre-treatment applied, as well as the choice of alloy and the condition of the metal.
The selection of pre-treatment and the care with which it is carried out are important quality factors.
The best pre-treatment chemicals come from Henkel Chembond and Chemetall.
Jigging
Pre-treated aluminium sections are jigged onto the conveyor system for final coating and processing.
The capacity of our pre-treatment line and conveyor system is to handle 6 metre long components with ease.
Coating
Coating of the workpiece with customer-specified specifications in a controlled environment.
We are one of the few companies providing PVDF coating, powder coating, and decorative finishes with wood or marble patterns on metals, with exterior durabilities.
We are approved applicators of Akzo Nobel for Powder and PVDF, PPG for PVDF, Jotun for PVDF. We process coatings to AAMA 2603, AAMA 2604, and AAMA 2605 — the toughest specification laid so far for coatings on aluminium.
Oven Curing
The curing oven is the heart of the coating process.
A duly calibrated oven to produce ideal heat schedules required for varied types of powder/paints is vital for quality.
Oven curing of coated workpieces is done at Radiant on an automatic PLC-controlled conveyorised long oven (12m x 1.75m x 0.6m) which is synchronised with a three-second changeover to prevent colour variations.
Unloading
Unloading of finished workpieces from the conveyor for inspection and packaging. Each piece is handled carefully to preserve the freshly cured coating surface.
Quality Analysis
All coated workpieces undergo several stages of inspection and quality control.
We have a fully operational lab for short-term testing to test coatings as per AAMA specifications.
Tests include: coating thickness (DFT), colour adhesion, bonding, uniformity, cross-hatch adhesion, conical mandrel flexibility, gloss retention, solvent resistance, and salt-spray corrosion resistance.
Packing & Shipping
Modern and well-equipped packaging department.
We always ensure that all material is shipped defect-free and safely packaged.
We provide full logistic support for in-time services with own trucks to minimise delays in despatches.
Quality Controls at Every Step
Cross-Hatch & Adhesion
Coating and aluminium substrate adhesion and bonding tested to AAMA standards on every batch.
DFT / Film Thickness
Digital film thickness measurement (micron test) ensures spec compliance on every coated section.
Salt Spray Testing
Corrosion resistance tests in our in-house salt spray chamber to verify coastal and industrial suitability.
Gloss Retention
Specular gloss measured post-cure against customer specification and paint brand reference.
Oven Temperature Recording
Continuous PLC oven profile recording ensures correct cure temperature and dwell time on every run.
Pressure Cooker & Solvent
Blistering and solvent resistance tests verify coating integrity under demanding conditions.
